  • Parallely you can start with the 2nd step that is to get your DGCA Pilot Medical done.
  • To become a pilot in India you should be fit and healthy. You need to get 2 Pilot Medical done namely
  • CLASS 2 MEDICAL

3RD STEP

The final step of Pilot training in India is to complete 200 hours of flying done in a DGCA authorised Flying school.

Flying training can be done in 2 ways

  1. You can do Flying training from India, in that case you have to pass 6 DGCA Exams as mentioned above and time taken will be around 1-2 years.
  2. You can do Flying training from abroad, in that case you have to pass only 3 or 4 DGCA Exams depending on the country from where you are doing your flying training from.

  • If you choose a flying school in USA then you need to clear 4 DGCA Exams and time duration is around 8 to 12 months
  • If you choose a flying school in New Zealand then you need to clear 3 DGCA Exams and time duration is around 10 months.
  • If you choose a flying school in Australia then you need to clear 3 DGCA Exams and time duration is around 12 months.
  • If you choose a flying school in South Africa then you need to clear 3 DGCA Exams and time duration is around 12-15 months.

After completing flying in abroad you will get the Commercial Pilot license of the respective country and now that needs to be converted into a Indian DGCA CPL License. The process for that is you need to give 10-15 hours of day and night practical flying checks in India and you will get your abroad license converted into Indian CPL.
